Who we are
We are a traditional "Backwoods" style campsite in North Manchester, for use by Scouts, Guides, youth groups and other organisations.
The site consists of over 50 acres of English woodland, a large camping field, toilet block and a lodge with accommodation for 22.
We pride ourselves on providing a facility not generally available in the Greater Manchester area - a rare opportunity for young people to get away from the pressures and distractions of modern life.
For more information, click here to open a brochure (PDF) with more information about the campsite (it will open in a new window).
The site is available for any size of group - the main field can easily cater for 500 people. Everyone is welcome and we can normally accommodate any type of event by contact and discussion with the Campsite Manager.
As well as the main camping field, we also have 50 acres of woodland - perfect for remote camping and shelter building.
Walter Martin Lodge consists of sleeping accommodation for 22, consisting of 4 dormitories and a separate 'leaders' dormitory. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a large hall for meals and activities.
Giant’s Seat Scout Campsite (GSSC) is wholly owned by Prestwich, Radcliffe and Whitefield Scout District and is open to use by other organisations.
We especially encourage youth and community organisations to use a facility not generally available in the Greater Manchester area.
